DIY Outdoor Ottoman

Summer is upon us in south Texas, and I soooooo want an outdoor livingroom on my front porch.
So I'm on a mission, to make it happen! First stage of this project was to go out and buy wicker chairs from Pier 1 along with the cute cushions. Now I need to work on a coffee table!!!

I took a trip to home depot and joann fabric to get what i needed.  I have posted a few pics for you!

This is what I came home with

* half sheet of plywood
* 4 wood legs
* foam cushion
* brackets
* staple gun
*glue

Instead of just screwing the legs into the wood, I got brackets. You can find these where the legs are in the hardware store.

 attached them to the corners of the plywood, leave a gap so you can staple fabric under the wood to

the foam I used  is 5 inches thick and I doubled it so that it was 10 inches thick.  Cut the foam to size with knife and glue the two pieces together, one on top of the other.

The fabric I used is outdoor fabric from Joann's, I used  just under a yard.
I then pulled the fabric and stapled it to the wood.

and this it what it looks like after all sides are stapled down.

I'm going to add trim to hide the staples and I'll be painting the legs.
As soon as it's finished I'll post pictures!!

Fitbit

Today I got a fitbit scale and fitbit wireless activity tracker. I've been going to the gym 4 times a week for a while. I have been losing inches and feel great but I'd like to lose a little weight too. So I'm giving this a try. I track all my activity with my Iphone or my computer, and anytime i weigh myself it will sync to my smartphone and computer. It's great, i can keep up with my food intake workouts and body fat, along with my weight. Hope this work and i see results!!!!

Cleaning Hardwood Floors!!!

 One of the things that made me fall in love with our new home was the rich dark hardwood floors but keeping them clean would become a struggle for me.  I tried several cleaners,  and none of them gave me the shine I wanted.  So,when all else fails, google! I found tons of info on homemade cleaning solutions, and with a little tweaking found what worked best for me.

Here is my cleaning routine for my floors.

I bought a huge dust mop and I go over my floors everyday sometimes twice when they need it.
I mop them with a solution of vinegar, water, olive oil and essential oil, about once a week, I  may go a little longer.

 Dilute 1/2 cup of distilled white vinegar into a gallon of water, you don't want to use more than that. To much vinegar can damage your floors
1/4 cup of olive oil, this puts the shine in you floors
10 or more drops of essential oil, this helps with the vinegar smell
it works great!!!!

Make sure to mop is slightly damp, wring out as much water as you can, you don't want a lot of extra water on your floors.  I found that after I mopped with this solution several times my floors began to shine and I didn't need to mop so often, just sweep or dust the floor.
